SYSTEM OF SAFETY CUSHIONS

The car is equipped with double additional system of safety (Supplemental Restraint System – SRS), consisting of safety cushions for the driver and the forward passenger. To some countries of KIA delivers cars only with one safety cushion – for the driver.

The safety cushion is designed as additional protection FOR CORRECTLY FASTENED people in case of a strong head-on collision of the car. Safety cushions are not replacement of seat belts and do not provide protection of the bottom extremities.

There are many types of failures at which the safety cushion does not work. Collisions concern them sideways and behind, a car perevorachivaniye on a roof, the second or third blows at repeated collisions with an obstacle and collisions on small speed. Remember that safety cushions were designed in order that they revealed only in cases when the person force of blow moves forward to a safety cushion, i.e. in cases of direct front strokes or front blows with a small deviation from straightforwardness. In other words, if the car is damaged or completely broken, be not surprised that the safety cushion did not reveal. There are four very important arguments of application of seat belts even in cases when the car is equipped with safety cushions:

      – belts hold in the correct situation (rather far from a revealing safety cushion);
      – belts reduce risk of wound at collisions sideways and behind, at a car perevorachivaniye because the safety cushion is not created for such situations;
      – belts reduce risk of wound at the weak head-on collisions which are not rather strong for activation of a pillow.

Safety cushions and seat belts

Even in the car equipped with safety cushions, the driver and passengers should be fastened by seat belts for reduction of danger of a travmirovaniye. At collision or a car perevorachivaniye belts reduce probability of loss of the person from the car.

Be always fastened by a seat belt. The belt will help to keep at sufficient distance from a safety cushion at sharp braking directly ahead of collision.

Safety cushions are designed so that they revealed in cases of sharp front blows. They do not reveal at collisions sideways and behind, perevorachivaniya of the car or at head-on collisions on small speed. Also do not reveal from secondary repeating blows during repeated collisions.

If the car was flooded or somehow damaged at flood, do not try to start up the engine or to insert a key into the ignition lock, and disconnect the storage battery. The safety cushion otherwise can reveal and cause a serious trauma. Tow off the car to authorized dealer Kia for carrying out survey and necessary repair.
