5.17. Check of fuel nozzles

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Start up the engine and warm up it to normal working temperature. Leave the engine to work at frequency of rotation of idling.
2. A stethoscope or a screw-driver listen to the sounds created by nozzles at their work.

Prevention

Gasoline is explosive, therefore at work with elements of fuel system provide normal ventilation of a workplace, do not use fire, the sparking devices opened by fire-dangerous light devices and do not smoke.

Be convinced that fuel nozzles are reliably fixed on the fuel highway that will exclude their moving and possible damage.


3. In the absence of the sounds created by nozzles at their work measure resistance of nozzles.
4. If resistance of nozzles as it should be, check integrity of electric chains between fuel nozzles and contacts 47, 48, 49, and the 50th socket of the electronic control unit the engine.

Check of tightness of fuel nozzles

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove nozzles together with the fuel highway.
2. For supply of fuel to nozzles, a hose connect the fuel highway to the pipeline of supply of fuel.
3. An additional wire connect FUEL PUMP plugs (the fuel pump) and In + the diagnostic socket.
4. Include ignition.
5. Incline fuel nozzles at an angle 60 ° and check that there are no leakages of fuel from nozzles.
6. In the presence of leaks replace a nozzle.
7. Switch off ignition and remove an additional wire.

Check of productivity of fuel nozzles

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove nozzles together with the fuel highway.
2. For supply of fuel to nozzles a hose connect the fuel highway to the pipeline of supply of fuel.
3. Connect sockets to nozzles.
4. An additional wire connect nozzles to a wire (BRN) of the control unit and weight.
5. Include ignition.
6. Using a measured vessel measure fuel volume sprayed by a nozzle in 1 minute.

Productivity of a fuel nozzle:
A3E engine: 180 cm3 / mines
A5D engine: 190 cm3 / mines
7. If productivity of a nozzle differs from demanded, replace a nozzle.

Prevention

At repeated installation of the fuel highway and nozzles use new sealing rings, previously having greased them with a thin layer of engine oil.


Check of resistance of fuel nozzles

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Disconnect sockets from nozzles.
2. By an ohmmeter measure resistance of each nozzle.

Resistance: 13,5–15,5 Ohm at 20°С

3. If resistance of a nozzle differs from demanded, replace a nozzle.
