13.10. Replacement of brake shoes on back drum-type brakes

GENERAL INFORMATION

Brake shoes on back drum-type brakes

1–rack;
2–bolt;
3–working brake cylinder;
4–a razzhimny level with the lever;
5–forward brake shoe;
6–lever of a drive of the parking brake;
7–anti-tinkling sound spring;
8–back brake shoe;
9–clip;
10-holder;
11-brake drum;
12-returnable spring;
13-bearing;
14-washer;
15-nut;
16-dustproof cap.

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Lift the back party of the car and fix on support.
2. Remove back wheels.
3. Remove a dustproof cap.
4. A small chisel unbend a fillet and unscrew a nut.

Prevention

Be careful not to damage a groove and a carving on the axis end.


5. Remove from an axis a brake drum, a washer and bearings as knot assembled. If it is difficult to remove a brake drum, take away brake shoes.

6. Remove forward and back clips of brake shoes and from a reverse side of a brake board remove racks of support of brake shoes.
7. Remove back brake shoes assembled.
8. Disconnect a cable of the parking brake from a back brake shoe.

9. Disconnect a tube from the working brake cylinder.

10. Turn out a bolt of fastening of the working brake cylinder.

11. Remove an anti-tinkling sound spring.
12. Remove a razzhimny level after removal of a returnable spring.
13. Remove the lever of a drive of the parking brake.

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Check brake drums on lack of cracks, dredging or unequal wear.
2. If necessary chisel or replace a brake drum.
3. Measure internal diameter of a brake drum.

4. Replace a brake drum if internal diameter of a drum exceeds maximum permissible value.

Maximum diameter: 201 mm


Prevention

Check uniformity of a prileganiye of a brake shoe to a brake drum.


5. Check overlays of brake shoes on absence of pollution by oil or lubricants, wear and cracks.
6. Measure thickness of overlays of back brake shoes. Replace all brake shoes on one axis of the car even if only one block has thickness, smaller maximum permissible.

Minimum admissible thickness: 1,0 mm

Installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Clear a brake board.
2. With greasing for brakes grease points of contact of brake shoes with a brake board and the working brake cylinder.

Prevention

Exclude greasing hit on brake shoes.


3. Establish the working brake cylinder on a brake board.
4. Connect a brake tube to the working brake cylinder.
5. Establish the lever of a drive of the parking brake. Grease interfaced surfaces of a rack and adjust position of the lever.
6. Connect a cable of the parking brake to the lever of a drive of the parking brake.
7. Establish brake shoes assembled on the working brake cylinder.
8. From a reverse side of a brake board establish racks and clips fix on them brake shoes.
9. Establish an adjusting level in completely released situation.

10. Establish a screw-driver against a cam of a regulator and move it to the issued situation.

11. Establish a brake drum, a washer and the bearing on an axis.
12. Several times press a brake pedal for reduction of the automatic device of adjustment of gaps of brake shoes into position.
13. Screw a new nut. Hammer a nut fillet into an axis groove.
14. Establish a dustproof cap.
